Packing A Hospital Bag As A Soon To Be Dad!

If your partner is getting ready to have a baby, we’re sure the hospital bag will be planned out and ready to go. However, don’t forget, you’ll need your own stuff too! So, we’re here to help map out everything you’re going to need whilst you’re there, to make sure you’re comfortable and can be there for your partner in every way she needs. So, let’s get that bag packed and left by the door!

Water Bottle

Firstly, you should pack a water bottle. There’s a lot going on during labour, so you will need to make sure you’re staying hydrated. There will be places you can fill it up whilst you’re at the hospital, plus it’ll mean you won’t have to keep leaving the room to go buy water, which can add up if you’re there for a while!

Phone Charger

Another thing that’s a must is a phone charger. You’ll likely be needing to contact people and update them throughout the birth, as well as potentially take photos if your partner wants you to, so having a fully charged phone is key. You could even take a portable charger just in case there’s not a plug where you need it to be.

Pillow and Blanket

Throughout the labour, you may or may not have time to get some shut eye, but pack a pillow and blanket just in case. Every labour is different, and you might need to be awake to be there for your partner, but it’s best to be prepared either way, as if you do have a chance for a sleep, you’ll want to!

Comfy Change Of Clothes

Make sure you go to the hospital wearing something comfy in the first place, however you should also take a comfy change of clothes with you. Whether you’re in there for a few days and don’t have much time to head home for more supplies, or your clothes might need changing for whatever reason, having something comfy that makes you feel confident on hand is key. We’d say take something like a mens full tracksuit, then also have a t-shirt with you, so you can take off the hoodie if you need to feel slightly cooler.

Snacks

The last thing your partner will want when they’re in labour is to hear you complaining about being hungry! So, pack some snacks that will keep you full until you’re able to get some proper food. Protein bars will fill you up, then also take something like crisps and then something fresh like bananas.

Toiletries

Last but not least, don’t forget to pack your toiletries. Deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste are the main ones! Again, you don’t know how long you’re going to be there, so make sure you have a few bits that you can freshen up with. You won’t get a chance to shower, so just things you can quickly use before you head home for a proper clean!
